While we at Wise Wizard Games will be opening and checking the accuracy of some of our "scale test" packs ourselves, we want to also allow the Draconis 8 community to participate.
We are looking for volunteers to demo Draconis 8 at their local game store (hopefully in October), and earn some early packs for themselves in the process.
Ask your local game store
Ask your local game store if they would be willing to let you demo in their space. This won’t cost the store anything (except use of a game table) and the store will have the opportunity to preorder Draconis 8 display boxes at an extra discount if they wish.
Fill out this form
You will be asked for your own contact information, as well as contact information for your local store.
If you are selected, we will send a free display (24 packs) to the store for you to use in your demos. For every 2 players you demo to, you will get to keep 1 pack! (This is a free “thank you” pack, and doesn’t count against your Kickstarter reward). So, if you manage to demo to 16 players, you will earn 8 packs to keep.
When a player completes their demo, they will get to keep the pack they demoed with! (Limit 1 pack per person.) Store staff are welcome to receive a demo and get a free pack if they wish.
All demos will be 2-player games. Each player must download the Draconis 8 app, create an account (if they don’t already have one), and scan the demo pack into their collection. You will write down the player’s user name and check the digital pack they scanned to ensure it exactly matches the physical cards in the pack.
Then you will guide the players through a physical game of Draconis 8. When they are done, they keep their pack, and you’ll fill out a small online form letting us know if there were any problems with the packs.
With iron, heart, scales, deadly breath weapons, and unmatched intelligence, dragons reign supreme. But when disputes arise between these mighty rulers, they are not settled by armies… but by the Draconis 8.
Each dragon gathers a warband — themselves and seven legendary champions — to battle another dragon’s team. These duels decide the fate of empires, played through a fast-paced, deeply strategic card game.

Every duel begins with a lean but powerful force: one mighty Dragon, seven Champions, and a neutral Terrain card that sets the stage.
This compact design means there's no wasted space — every card has weight, and every decision matters. Your Dragon is your ace, boasting multiple abilities and devastating stats, but the Champions you surround it with will determine how battles unfold.
Your deck might pair a fearsome Red Dragon with orc warriors, elven archers, and a sly goblin trickster — each one contributing a unique way to score or disrupt.
Unlike most card games where players alternate turns, some parts of Draconis 8 is played in real-time mind games. Both players draw, then secretly choose a card to play. When revealed, the card with higher initiative earns a point and resolves first.
This keeps the pace brisk and tense: you're always thinking ahead, bluffing, and trying to predict your rival's next move.
Will your opponent commit their Dragon early for raw power, or hold it back for a decisive late strike? Do you counter with a solid Champion… or risk everything on a bold play?

Cards don't just hit the table — where you place them is just as important as what you play. Each card you add connects to the growing battlefield, scoring when adjacent to foes. Initiative determines first placement, but positioning unlocks deep tactical layers: block off scoring lines, rotate enemies, or create chains of allies that amplify one another's abilities.
Your Champion of Fear rotates an enemy Paladin just enough that their strong side no longer scores points — swinging the round in your favor.
Every card carries a special ability that warps the rules in your favor or sabotages your foe. Dragons often wield multiple powers, but even humble Champions can deliver game-changing effects. Some bend the battlefield (rotating, swapping, shielding), others manipulate scoring (stealing, multiplying, or redirecting points). Combined, they create endless tactical puzzles — and no two decks play the same.
A stealthy Rogue Champion lets you sneak victory beads from one card to another, while your Dragon unleashes a devastating ability that clears a row of enemies.

The battle is short, sharp, and conclusive: after seven rounds of simultaneous duels, the player with the most victory points claims the match. No endless grind, no drawn-out stalemates — just pure, focused strategy packed into 15–30 minutes.
You're tied in points after round six. In the final round, your Dragon enters the field and tips the balance, claiming the decisive victory. Glory is yours.
